General Ministry

Christian Direction

The general assistant will help the administrative head office at Christian Direction with clerical, communications and administrative support work. The employee will learn the Christian community development approach, provide support to various ministries under Christian Direction and will attend workshops and trainings on urban theology and mission. 


Job Posting

Time commitment  35 hours a week/8 weeks 

Hourly rate  $14.50 $

Start date  May 16th, 2022 

End date  September 2nd, 2022 

Two contracts of eight weeks each, preferably filled out by same employee

This summer job is offered in collaboration with Service Canada and is conditional to the provision of a federal grant. The applicant must be at least 15 years old and no more than 30 years old at the moment of hiring.


  • Assisting Christian Direction and its ministries with their communications 

  • Attending communications committee meetings 

  • Visit ministries and take photos of their activities

  • Write short texts on activities for social media

  • Help with the lay out of newsletters

  • Attending staff meetings and weekly Urban Labs 

  • Other administrative tasks, if needed


  • Candidates must be between 18-30 years of age at the moment of hiring 

  • Candidates must be bilingual (French and English) 

  • Have a desire to work in the context of an urban Christian ministry

  • Having skills with Office, Excel and social media platforms, an asset

  • Have a sense of flexibility and autonomy

  • Have good organizational skills

  • Committed to a life animated by the Spirit and spiritual disciplines (i.e. community, simplicity, and witness).

  • Strong sense of vocation and integration of faith and work.

  • Team player and team builder, participating in the life and spirituality of the team. 

  • Not be more than 30 years old at the moment of hiring

Context and Organisation

Christian Direction is a Christian organisation. Its vision is to see God transform all of life in urban communities by the concerted actions of committed Christians. It fulfils its vision through partnerships with churches that are committed towards their local community and doing ministries with committed Christians. Christian Direction has several ministry sites located in five boroughs in Montréal, but is also doing ministry elsewhere in Quebec.
