Purpose of this role – The Accounting Coordinator supports the overall financial health and operational effectiveness of Christian Direction by managing the day-to-day financial workflow, maintaining accurate records, monitoring budgets, and ensuring prompt reporting and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. The Accounting Coordinator will help ensure that financial processes support informed decision-making, donor accountability, and the sustainable delivery of the organization’s mission-driven programs.
Main responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping & Data Entry
Ensure the accuracy of the organization’s financial workflows and maintain efficient cash flow.
Budget Monitoring & Reporting
Support informed financial decision-making by tracking income and expenses, identifying variances, and contributing to timely internal and external reporting.
Payroll Processing
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
Grant & Fund Management
Ensure proper tracking and compliance of restricted and unrestricted funds in alignment with donor and funder agreements and regulatory standards.
Audit & Compliance Support
Support the organization’s transparency and accountability by preparing documentation for audits and ensuring adherence to financial policies and regulatory requirements
Administrative & Core Collaborative Duties
Contributes to the effectiveness of overall operations by supporting day-to-day administrative tasks and collaborating with the Coordination team.
Job Requirements

Candidates should be in agreement with our vision, mission and core commitments including our statement of faith and the Nicene Creed (documents will be provided during the interview process).
Education

Diploma or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or other accounting certification are preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, experience in the non-profit or charitable sector a plus.

Experience with fund accounting and managing restricted/unrestricted funds is highly desirable.

Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger maintenance.

Familiarity with the Sage or Quickbooks software and audit preparation and compliance with donor or grant requirements are an asset.
Other

Speaking French is essential, English, an asset.

Participates in monthly staff meetings, seasonal staff retreats, and occasional professional development.
