Women Survivors of Domestic Abuse Initiative
This role exists to advance the initiative, “Changing the narrative for church‐going women survivors of domestic abuse in Quebec,” a women survivors of domestic abuse initiative sponsored by Christian Direction.
This is a special initiative of Christian Direction Inc. (CDI), an urbanChristian ministry that partners with congregations and social service agencies for the social and spiritual transformation of youth, families, and their communities.
The research assistant reports to the ministry advancement leader.
Job Title – Research Assistant, Women Survivors of Domestic Abuse Initiative Projected
Starting Date – October 1st, 2021
Work Schedule – 15‐20 hours/week; 1 year renewable
Salary –Commensurate with experience and according to CDI Salary Scale.
Location – Hybrid work environment, remote work from home with available workspace in our administrative office.
▪Understand and articulate Christian Direction’s vision, mission and approach to ministry, as well as the particular aims of the specific initiative;
▪Collaborate with the initiative leadership team for the advancement of project outcomes;
▪Maintain a detailed action plan to chart progress of ongoing research and project milestones;
▪Provide support and collaborate with the initiative leadership team in grant writing and fundraising.
▪Overall administration of the initiative (includes organizing committee meetings, taking minutes, preparing an action plan, assisting in grant‐writing, and communicating with stakeholders);
▪Responsibility for the preparation and administration of a confidential, bilingual online survey, and conducting semi‐structured interviews with women survivors (includes collecting and collating survey and interview data, and assisting in the preparing the report of findings);
▪Collaborate with project partners and professionals who will advise the team on research and overall project goals;
▪Creative use of social media as a tool for publicizing the initiative, recruiting participants, and increasing awareness of the issue of domestic abuse among church‐going women to the wider church community in Quebec.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience required
▪ Strong Interpersonal Skills
▪ Communication & Public Speaking
▪ Proficient in English, conversational in French, and bilingual an asset ▪ Fundraising skills an asset
▪ University Graduate (or equivalent level of experience, comprehension, communication skills)
▪ Commitment to Christ and who affirms the Nicene Creed
▪ Committed to a life animated by the Spirit and spiritual disciplines (i.e. community, simplicity, and witness)
▪ Strong sense of vocation and integration of faith and work
▪ Team player and team builder, participating in the life and spirituality of the team
