Innovation Youth

This role exists to support the animators and the participants of Innovation Youth’s educational programs for kids and youth.

Innovation Youth is one of Christian Direction’s urban ministries located in Peter-Mcgill, on the western end of downtown Montreal. Innovation Youth’s educational programs are run through Connections, a high school diploma program, and their Children’s library. The Connections program, in partnership with the English Montreal School Board and their DEAL (Distance education for adult learners) program, helps youth (ages 16-25) obtain necessary credits towards a high school degree or vocational trade, and acquire life skills and professional development.


The educational assistant reports to the Connections’ coordinator.

Job Title – Educational Assistant Projected 

Starting Date – September 13th, 2021 

Work Schedule – 20h/ week; Monday to Thursday Mornings; 15 weeks contract with possibility to extend 

Salary – 14$/ hour

Location – Innovation Youth

General Responsibilities 

  • Attending weekly staff check-ins and prayer meetings, and other supplementary training.  

  • Participate in Urban Labs, the undergirding workshops for urban ministry in a Christian context. 

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Conduct weekly/bi-weekly check-ins with students to track academic task completion

  • Present on-site for study session with students and their tutors

  • Maintain student files with the support of Connections coordinator

  • Offer workshops on academic and learning strategies to Connections’ participants

  • Assist with event-planning and volunteer assignment

  • Participate in program evaluation meetings 

  • Help with set-up/take-down of physical space


Qualifications, Education, and Experience required  

  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken); 

  • Basic knowledge of French (written and spoken)

  • Experience working in an educational context with youth. 

  • Must be comfortable working within a team environment

  • College/University-level education in a related field
