A BIT OF BACKGROUND

The first Centre Accroche in Ville St. Laurent was founded in 1993 by two innovative Christian Direction team members,  Bruno Désorcy and Bernard Racicot. Their desire was to address the alarming drop-out rate among teens in Québec —41 % for boys, 26 % for girls (Statistics Canada, 2001) — by offering academic help in a welcoming environment through friendship, with strong links to community and its services.

Today, Christian Direction has three Accroche Youth Centres to serve at-risk youth in the Montréal region: Centre Accroche — ville Saint-Laurent
Ricardo Castro, Director  (514) 334-7081

InnovationYouth — downtown Montreal

Jenna Smith, Director (514) 843-3996

Centre Entr'Ados — Hochelaga-Maisonneuve
Samuel Augustin, Director (514) 259-6127

Mission

To be an agent of Christian influence among secondary school children, in order to help them in their development in their academic, home and social life.

The Centres' Goals
—That the teens build a constructive and profitable life,

— That they acquire new aptitudes and knowledge,

—That they can identify what affirms their personal value,

—That they can build their self-esteem, leadership and sense of responsibility.

Volunteering

If you would like to volunteer in one of our Centres, simply contact one of the directors listed above. Your time may make the difference for one or more teens; sharing your skill may be just the thing to increase their confidence and get them back on the road to successful maturity.
